There was a lot going on last week in the world of SEO and SMM, including Google’s real-time search results, and Facebook’s Fan Page updates being included in them!

Check out some of my favs from last week…

ROI: How to Measure Return on Investment in Social Media
There is a business behind social media, and this article by Brian Solis does a great job of showing you the different measurements for SMM (it’s not just ROI any more). Check it out!
“Over the years, Social Media experts attempted to redefine ROI for a new era of influence. While some introduced alternative philosophies for measuring the nuances tied to social media, others wondered aloud whether ROI simply wasn’t necessary as the tools and methodologies for analyzing yields didn’t yet exist. And furthermore, by focusing on justification and metrics, we were distracted from the primary objective of building relationships and cultivating dialogue…” read more…

Google Analytics for Facebook Fan Pages
Google Analytics on your Fan Page? Yep! There is now a way to track referrals, visitors, etc. Check it out!
“…The workaround we use in our code is to include Google Analytics as an image instead of setting the standard Javascript. This method tracks every visitor to the custom facebook pages on Google Analytics. It required a combination of server side cookie management and an additional tag to the bottom of the facebook fan page. Here are the steps to get Google Analytics working on your facebook fan page.” Read more…

Google Adds Facebook’s Fan Page Updates to Real-Time Search
If you do not have one already, all the more reason to have a Facebook fan page…
“… Google said it would be adding public updates from Facebook Pages, last December, and now the integration is live within its real-time search updates, the company says, although we’re not seeing anything yet. To be clear, as of now, only information provided by Page owners will appear. So shared links, status updates, multimedia, etc. but not users’ comments on Pages…” read more…

“It’s always scary changing your website even when you know you need an update. Lots of times you feel like you are on an island and the people developing your website could care less if they respond to your concerns or not. Not only did Lindsay and her staff stay in constant contact with me through the entire process, they responded immediately to each question, and improved on my own ideas for the site. They thought of things that I would have never considered and have also taken my haphazard social media postings and formed a consistent strategy that is sure to blow the doors off anything I have done before. I feel like I have gotten many times over my money’s worth already. Thanks Lindsay and team!” -Dr. Chris Griffin, Ripley, MS, The Capacity Academy
